Benidorm is one of the symbols of the Spanish tourist growth, the small village of fishermen and farmers, which had 2.000 inhabitants at the beginning of the century, has grown into one capable of lodging 5.000.000 visitors a year. Theme parks, tennis, squash, golf, athletics, go-karts, paragliding, swimming, sailing, motor boats, rowing, fishing and deep sea diving are just some of the activities that Benidorm and its surroundings offer.

Benidorm has three major beaches: Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas; all of them have a blue flag, the maximum quality standard recognised by the European Union.

Benidorm also has several theme parks, for instance Terra Mítica and Terra Natura which are located just outside Benidorm, at the foot of the mountain. Other Theme Parks include Aqualandia and Mundomar located on the outskirts of the city on the Levante side.

To get from Alicante Airport to Benidorm, you can take the new Benidorm Bus from the Airport or the narrow gauge railway from downtown Alicante.
