The Castle at Cullera is from the middle ages and the Sanctuary of our Lady of the Castle is on the highest point of the mountain, offering a spectacular view over the surrounding district.  You can park your car in a small car park at the top by the church. Situated to the south of Valencia , separated from the waters of the Mediterranean by a chain of dunes and pine groves, the lake of La Albufera was formed in the distant past from the deposit of sediments from the Rivers Turia an Jucar , which hemmed in this small inland sea of fresh water. The area is famous for its rice fields which of course are an ingredient for the famous Paella.
